Texas’s 1st Congressional District stretches across 17 counties in East Texas and is home to nearly 767,000 people. From the Piney Woods in the south to the Red River along the Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma borders, it’s a region known for its natural beauty.
Life here is shaped by the outdoors. Lakes, rivers, and creeks where families fish, swim, and boat, plus the world-famous Tyler roses that draw visitors every year. The local economy is just as strong, with thriving healthcare, manufacturing, and tourism industries.
East Texas is also a place of learning, with well-regarded colleges and universities, including a new medical school that will soon strengthen the region’s healthcare and education community even more.

Congressman Nathaniel Moran has called this district home nearly his entire life. He moved to East Texas as an infant, grew up exploring the woods and sitting through church with his family, and later returned with his wife, Kyna, to start a business and raise their four children.
For more than 22 years, Nathaniel and his family have been deeply rooted in Texas’s 1st District. Moran sees serving as a Congressman not just a responsibility. It’s an honor to represent the friends, neighbors, and communities that shaped him.
